How to Make Wedding Veils

July 26th, 2012 Nick of Time Textiles

You know what is absolutely ridiculous?

Wedding veil prices.

Take a look at David’s Bridal, the lowest priced veil that you’ll find is still $18 and that doesn’t really count as a veil, if you ask me. Then, of course, you can actually spend up to not $50, not $100 or even $200… Try $248 for a wedding veil. That’s nuts!

Do you know what a veil is? A piece of fabric attached to a comb. Sure, you might even wish it to be in a special shape, but in the end Vera Wang is charging $248 for a piece of tulle, which Nick of Time sells for $1.45 a yard. All you need to do after purchasing the tulle is to get a comb. You could get a plastic comb for a few bucks, or even look at some antique shops for a nifty antique comb.

Whatever you do, it’ll cost less than anything at a bridal store and it’ll probably become a precious memory for you!

So, one more time, here are the steps for make a veil:

-Get however much tulle fabric you need, a comb and a means of attaching the two (glue, thread, etc.)

-Attach the tulle to the comb

-Put it on your head
